The course is delivered by subject matter experts in hazardous materials, who have spent time as either FRS first responders, hazardous materials instructors and training leads, tactical advisors or sector-competent chemists.

This course is delivered through a combination of distance learning and in-person training. This course is preloaded with a blended mix of interactive, high-quality video, distance learning and online discussions, which learners will access prior to attending the in-person element of the course. The in-person element consists of 1 week of in-person training, during which learners design and deliver scenarios for other learners. Each course will have set dates to deliver the in-person element of this course, for which all learners will be expected to be available. This course will be completed within one month of commencing.
